Persephone is an animated, mixed media short film about loss, and a mother daughter relationship. It deals with the transformative stage of losing a loved one and how one individually reshapes themselves.
Persephone has returned to her childhood home after her mother, Demeter’s funeral. Persephone must now take care of both her mother’s belongings and her ashes which she carefully carries in a golden urn. While in this old house, Persephone is caught in a kind of limbo having difficulty accepting her mother’s death.
Each piece of this house is a memory from the days spent with her mother. Throughout this film Persephone will take in the unique beauty from each of these memories. She will grow to accept the difficulty of her mother’s death. And in the end, combine the two as she embraces a new life of her own.
